Attorney-at-law in the Litigation and Arbitration Team and the Infrastructure Team. He specialises in commercial disputes. His experience includes advising top entities from the infrastructure and energy (including RES) sectors as well as real estate developers and investment funds. He has supported clients in disputes regarding compensation arising between consortium members carrying out infrastructure projects, payment of contractual penalties, payment for additional and substitute works, rebus sic stantibus cases, and corporate disputes regarding the takeover of control over a company. Jan also has experience in handling cases with cross-border elements, including international arbitration.


Selected projects

  • day-to-day legal advice to entities carrying out construction projects, including marine, rail, road and building projects;
  • representation of a consortium member in a dispute with the other consortium members on the performance of a large infrastructure project (claims for damages);
  • representation of a general contractor in a dispute regarding withdrawal from a contract for the construction of regional roads;
  • representation of a general contractor in a dispute regarding the construction of a specialised building (including the contractor’s claims regarding additional and substitute works performed and the employer’s claim for contractual penalties);
  • representation of general contractors in several proceedings against PKP PLK and GDDKiA regarding payment for additional and substitute works performed (total value of the claims: over PLN 300 million);
  • representation of a listed company in a dispute regarding the invalidation of an emergency issue of shares worth over PLN 100 million;
  • representation of a company from the energy sector in a dispute against the State Treasury regarding damage exceeding PLN 80 million, caused by a breach of the EU regulations.
