We represented an international e-commerce business operating across numerous European markets as the injured party in one of the most significant organised theft cases in the Polish logistics sector. The case concerned the theft of fashion goods within the client’s cross-border supply chain, resulting in losses exceeding EUR 20 million.

Our team supported the client at all key stages of the investigation. We developed the evidentiary strategy, prepared and filed successive applications for evidence, and supported efforts to secure asset freezes in respect of several suspects. We also worked closely with the prosecutor’s office and Poland’s Central Bureau of Investigation.

The case required an analysis of a complex theft scheme within an international supply chain, together with indications of evidence concealment, deletion of CCTV footage and manipulation of transport seal records. The scale of the losses and the cross-border nature of the client’s operations called for a combination of criminal law expertise and an understanding of logistics processes and their documentation.

Our work helped the client actively protect its interests in the criminal proceedings, pursue recovery of its losses and prepare for further legal action against those responsible. The matter demonstrates JDP’s ability to combine representation of corporate victims of economic crime with evidentiary strategy and preparation for civil claims.

The matter was handled by the JDP team (Arkadiusz Górski, Barbara Kaczała, Krzysztof Kaczor, Magdalena Sienkiewicz ) led by Marcin Chomiuk, PhD.
